PROPOSALS FOR MINICURSO

Short courses to be presented at the BSI 2010 should discuss issues relating to fundamental aspects and emerging technologies for modeling, development and management of information systems. Short courses may be introductory or advanced and should be related to the topics of interest to the symposium. The introductory short courses will cover fundamentals of the area of information systems and should target undergraduate and graduate, as well as technical software industry. Short courses should address advanced topics for the main trends in research in Information Systems....

The proposed short course should be submitted electronically through the track "SBSI 2010 - Minicursos" of the JEMS system (submissions SBC). The proposed short course should be written in Portuguese or English and have at most 4 pages, including the following information:

For short courses accepted, authors should send on the dates specified, the slides and extended abstract. The extended abstract of the courses, to be published must contain a maximum of 6 pages, in Portuguese or English, folowing the model for publishing articles of the SBC
Short courses will be presented in 2 sessions of 2 hours duration (total 4h), and will be provided copies of the slides entered in the short courses.

WORKSHOP FOR THESES AND DISSERTATIONS

The Workshop of Thesis in Information Systems (WTDSI) is a forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of MSc and PhD in Information Systems developed in the post-graduation in Brazil. Its purpose is to provide an environment for constructive discussions, where the students not only can be able to get an assessment of their work being implemented, but also have access to a representative picture of research in information systems in the country, encouraging integration and cooperation researchers in this area, and giving greater visibility to the ongoing research to the academic and industrial community.

The papers submitted will be evaluated by three members of the Program Committee. Selected works should be presented during the workshop and receive opinions and constructive criticism of a body of Invited Panelists, consisting of researchers in the SI and the present community. There  is hoped to have the active participation and integration between students and teachers in order to delineate areas of action for future work.

Submission to WTDSI should be made through an article (extended abstract) featuring the work of doctoral and masters degrees related to topics of interest to the symposium. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of their contribution and problems, domains or environments in which they apply, drawing on work in progress

Priority will be given to the acceptance of the doctoral work that are in the second or third year, or in close proximity to defend his thesis proposal. Preference will be given to the works of masters who have already approved the proposal (or defense of a good proposal). Work already completed should not be submitted. The submission must be accompanied by an e-mail from the advisor giving knowledge of submission.
All papers should contain a cover sheet which contains only the following information

• Advisor
• Level (Masters or PhD)
• Graduate Program
• E-mail contact the student
• E-mail contact the advisor
• Year of joining the program
• Period of Expected completion
• Steps already completed (choose one or more steps already completed):
Master's defense of the proposal, seminar underway
Doctorate: defense proposal, qualifying examination...
• Abstract in Portuguese (MS) or summary in English (PhD)
• Keywords (according to the subjects of the event)

The content of the work must start on the second page, and the following information must be described clearly and objectively:

• Theoretical framework;
• Characterization of the contribution;
• Current status of work;
• Work related (comparative view);
• Evaluation of results;

For article on Master's Thesis, must be sent to cover then up to 5 content pages (including figures, tables, charts, bibliography and appendices). The Workshop on business process management is a forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of techniques, methodologies, models of business process management in the current scenario, in which business processes cross organizational barriers and enable the integration of organizations, individuals, systems and services.

Topics of interest of the IV WGPN:

management of inter-organizational processes
distributed and mobile business processes
electronic contracts
services composition  and business processes
management methodology for business processes
services and business processes repositories

information systems and business processes
service-oriented architectures and management of business processes
Web services for managing business processes
ontologies for business processes
